Caffeine Caffeine is undoubtedly the most widely consumed drug of all. Coffee, soft drinks, tea and energy drinks all contain caffeine. The majority of the population has at least had a taste of this psychoactive substance in its various forms.

We are so alike! I love my coffee in the morning with my cigarette. I drink coffee all day. I stop drinking it a few hours before bed, because I don't want to be up all night. I am too tired without coffee anyway.

Do you find the morning need for caffeine a problem? You may consider morning yoga or exercise as well as replacing coffee with fruit juice if you are uncomfortable with the nagging need for coffee.

I personally do not mind my need for morning coffee when I am not required to be mentally efficient (read: not in school). But if coffee is not available I am aware of my other energy-boosting alternatives, even to the extreme of taking an ice cold shower.

Also fatigue can be caused by dehydration (which coffee worsens) so consider replacing your mid-morning cup o joe with an ice cold glass of water!

I really don't have any bad effects from drinking coffee. I like it very strong and filtered and I am not addicted as I have only a couple of cups per day, however, I would hate to start my day without it!

How many cups of coffee a day would be considered too much? I usually drink 2, sometimes 3. A few times I'm pretty sure I got the jitters.

I know I can live without coffee; yet, I have not been able to do without it even for a day so far, lol. It goes hand in hand with my cigarettes. I drink at least five or six cups of coffee in any given day, which of course prompts a lot of sleepless nights, but who cares...

I have actually been told that caffeine works opposite in people with ADHD. I don't know if that is true but I can give some personal experience. I can drink coffee at night and lay down and sleep like a baby. I have ADHD. I have a younger brother who was severely ADHD and the doctors actually TOLD my mom to give him coffee (as a child)...just not with sugar, because that would amp him up. Back then, there were not that many alternatives to sugar so she gave it to him with Sweet-n-Low. It worked. My kids love coffee, as do I. Sigh. I went on Weight Watchers in January and thought I needed to quit cold turkey because I drank it with cream and sugar all day long. That was hell...headaches, sweating, nervousness, I could have passed for a junkie coming off! However, I found TRUVIA!!! And fat-free half and half and I'm in heaven!! That was a long response and I'm sorry...I just thought you might be able to relate.

I have a friend that drinks Mountian Dew a lot. She will actually get headaches if she doesn`t have any. I can`t drink too much caffeine either. I can have a few cups of coffee in the morning to wake me up but thats it for the day.

Same to me also... coffee is life. If i do not drink coffee for that particular day that i need to do some work... i feel lazy, do not have strong or desire to do the work, everything is so numb, but right after drink the coffee, my mind feel great again, can do the work actively.
