I was prescribed Lorazepam (Ativan) 1mg for anxiety...?

I've never taken it before, but have been on Ambien (5mg) for awhile. Just after work today, I took 1/2 of a Lorazepam (at 6:15pm), to see how it would work. Later I was wondering if I could take my usual ambien at 9pm- is it safe? The 1/2 Loraz. has relaxed me, but not enough that I feel like going to bed. It's 7:30 now- what is the safest thing I could do at 9pm:
a) take an ambien?
b) take the other half of the Loraz.? (they are 1mg tabs)
c) something else?

I have to get good sleep tonight- and usually cannot sleep without ambien. What do you guys think?

Not sure. A long time ago, I was prescribed ativan for anxiety. I've never taken anything for sleeping, though. The ativan didn't make me sleepy. I am not sure about mixing them. Did your doctor give you any guidance?
