| Tranquilizers Tranquilizers are used as an effective sedative. As the name suggests, a tranquilizer induces tranquility in a person. Sedatives can be abused to produce an overly-calming effect and can result in unconsciousness and even death. |

I know that elephant tranq is a nickname for PCP but it sounds a little random for what tranquilizers do vs PCP. so i was just wondering if it got that name because there is actually elephant tranquilizer in it.

No there isn't any elephant tranquilizer in PCP.
COMMON NAMES FOR PCP: amoeba angel dust, angel hair, animal tranquilizer, `CJ, Cadillac, crystal, crystal joints, cyclones, DOA ( on arrival), dust, elephant tranquilizer, goon, hog, horse tranquilizer, K1, killer weed (when combined with cannabis). mist, peace pill, pig tranquilizer, rocket fuel, scuf fle, sheets, snorts, soma, supergrass, superweed, surfer, synthetic marijuana, weed PCP has no links to anything that is found in nature. The only way to make it is to combine dangerous industrial chemicals. One ingredient is cyanide (SY-uh-nide), a deadly poison. Other ingredients are chemicals that may otherwise be used to make plastics, paint remover, motor fuels, and other products. In fact, one of the clues that frequently leads to the discovery of an illegal PCP laboratory is the strong odor of chemicals. Labs are also found due to explosions or fires caused by careless handling of these chemicals by the illegal drug manufacturers. When found in large amounts, PCP gives off a powerful odor like that of ammonia. |

PCP is strong enough to knock out an elephant. That could be one reason for the nickname. It is a very lethal drug and definitely not worth the risk.
