Wellbutrin for Gastric Bypass Patients?
Hi Folks. Well, my trial of Ritalin IR was a disaster. I spent the whole time (2 weeks) with a neck/head ache every time the meds were in my system.
So, my psych dr. prescribed Wellbutrin SR 150 mg 1x day to start for first two weeks, then 150mg 2x day after. I've been taking it since Dec 19th, with lackluster results. My mood seems slightly elevated, but my ADHD symptoms haven't improved.
I'm wondering if my rearranged innards are making it hard for me to absorb the medicine. I have read that Sustained Release medications can be ineffective in the digestive systems of Gastric Bypass patients because of our shortened intestines and the fact that the medicine is not in the gastrointestinal tract long enough to be fully absorbed.
Is there a non sustained release version of Wellbutrin? I'm wondering if I should try it and see if there is a difference. Either that, or move on to Strattera?
Any suggestions/advice welcome. Thanks!
