Default brain shivers

my aunt decide to stop Effexor because she thinks it is not working for her for she used it like 2 years already. She lessen the doses and eventually stop altogether just recently and she's in the middle of experiencing withdrawals. she can't sleep well, and have mood swings which we as her nieces get so irritated because it came to a point that she is totally unpredictable. She said she feel that her brain shiver. it gives her pain in the back dizziness and the feeling of coldness maybe for the reason she is having lack of sleep. For the past few weeks when she missed one dose of she's really having a bad experienced. Its not good to be totally dependent with the drug and i am just concern with her because she is suffering so much of it. How long these symptoms last?

I think your aunt is experiencing withdrawal symptoms, which is quite common with effexor.

the brain shivers your aunt is experiencing is actually electric shock sensations, or brain zaps in the brain. These sensations are thought to represent some kind of changes in the neuronal activity in the central nervous system.

my friend also had the same brain zaps, it might take as long as one month for it to stop!

In general, proper supervision is key when withdrawing from anti-depressants (or any drug for that matter).
You should really discuss this with your doctor/psychiatrist to find a withdrawal plan that is safe and effective.
Maybe you can incorporate natural food remedies to elevate serotonin levels while you are weaning away from effexor.

Overall, talk to a professional and good luck!
