this helps treating depression, OC disorder are categorized to an anxiety disorder which is a repetitive behavior or an individual. the drug shows less effects on norepinephrine and dopamine neuronal reuptake and it is highly selective in its action on the neurotransmitter serotonine. consulting your physician before discontinuation of the drug is needed.

thanks for the very informative post. what about fluvoxamine? does it help to relieve anxiety? I mean i know its primary for depression and ocd but i wonder if it helps anxiety disorder.

You should note, however, that the FDA has only approved Lexapro as an anti-depressant and anti-anxiety.

My friend tried lexapro for his hair pulling mania, but it didn't improve his condition either. You might want to try clomipramine, it's been said to be helpful with OCD.

A lot of people think that since Lexapro helps ease general anxiety and panic disorders that it would help in OCD cases. But the fact remains that until some conclusive study comes along and the FDA approves it for use with OCD, then please don't try it for OCD.

How does this (or any) drug curtail the problems of OCD? Does it just calm the person down so OCD anxiety doesn't overwhelm the person?
