I don't want answers from people that have no idea about drugs and just feel like saying yes (to brain damage) and not having a legit reason why. I tried them when I was 14 and I don't believe they cause any damage to the brain.

The main alkaloid found in Psilocybin mushrooms is really similar to the chemical structure of the monoamine neurotransmitter Serotonin. when you eat the mushroom the alkaloid Psilocybin turns into Psilocin which then attaches itself to the same Receptor as Serotonin. which are the (5HT) Receptors found in the Central Nervous System. the main Receptor being the 5HT2A. What it does is it works as an Agonist at that Receptor...it attaches itself and then it activates it.. after that it immediately or almost immediately dissociates from it..
As i explained before Psilocybin and Serotonin have a chemical structure that is nearly identical... if shrooms were to cause brain damage so would Serotonin which is impossible... unless there is an over abundance of it, then you get whats called Serotonin Syndrome but that's not the case with Psilocybin... |

so there is absolutely no physical harm to your body from eating mushrooms (i.e. liver damage:drinking or cancer:tobacco)? besides the obvious of your getting food poisoning and you could over dose, get ill, or have a bad trip.
