Shopping Addiction Going into a store planning to buy one pair of shoes and coming out with seven, or spending $500 instead of the budgeted $100 are standard shopping addiction symptoms. And just like an alcoholic or a drug addict, shopping addicts tend to keep proof of their excessive shopping habits from their loved ones, often living in stark denial.

I spend money on the shopping whenever I have need for something so I spend my money on the shopping for needed things and very useful things for my daily life.

Most people have a hard time believing any of the behavioral addictions because it is so commonplace and that the symptoms are so outrageous, like the ones you stated here. But be warned that addiction can be different in intensity. For one, you can be slightly addicted to shopping if you cannot control splurging on food, even if you do so only once a week.

Shopping is one of my hobby but its not addiction. Generally I go for shopping in my free time. But when I need things than I go for shopping. And I must make list before shopping. And I go for shopping with my family so they suggest to me.

Default I went through it

I dunno but I went through a stage of this so-called shopping addiction. When I lost my job 3 years ago, I was left at home with nothing else to do for about 5 months. My husband was fine with it since he can support me with his job. I did basically nothing until I get fond of shopping online or through real stores. It started out when I come to think of renovating our pad. I bought a glass doors, curtains, new dining set, etc etc. It was totally fun for me. When my husband realized what was going on, he was the one who asked me visit a doctor because he was worried. It turned out to be a type of depression from my job loss as the doctor said.

Its not bad to spend but spending too much is a poor choice in any age. In this time of monetary downturn, however, it can be even more destructive. We have shown how spending too much could be a sign of low self-esteem, or even a coping mechanism to keep away from the stress of debt. Now we will take a look at some more cerebral factors that contribute to over-spending. And some ways that we can help keep it in check. You can learn more about The psychology of over-spending - Part 2. Savings may prevent overspending because they provide a reserve for unexpected contingencies such as medical expenses and loss of income due to illness.
