Well its really rather simple my friend. Hydrocodone is the milder of the two. Don't get me wrong it is still a very strong pain killer but it is normally used for minor to moderate pain. Hydrocodone is the active ingrediant in vicodin, loratab, and norco. These pain killers are sometimes prescribed rather carelessly by doctors as they are not quite as dangerous as other narcotics. They do have a high potential for abuse and addiction but it is insignificant in comparison to oxycodone. They can be prescribed to people struggling from cancer or to some kid who sprained his wrist. Oxycodone on the other hand is much more controversial. It is the active ingrediant in many of the most powerful narcotics available, ranging from percocet, percodan, roxicodone, OxyIr, and of course Oxycontin. Doctors show much more restraint when it comes to prescribing these drugs because of their powerful active ingrediant Oxycodone. I'm not saying this is always the case but lately I have heard of the DEA cracking down on doctors who are prescribing these powerful narcotics freely. These drugs should only be prescribed for moderate to severe pain. Most of the people who get prescribed these have very dire cases. Such as my good friend Chelsea who is 19 years old and has a very serious brain tumor. She gets prescribed 20 mg Oxycontin which is the second lowest milligram availabe which is a perfect example of how cautious her doctor is when prescribing this drug. This is due to the drugs extremely high potential for abuse and addiction. Its potential for abuse can be compared to heroin or coke.
So basically hydrocodone is pretty much the weakest narcotic available while oxycodone is on the complete other end of the narcotic spectrum. To simplify things oxycodone is synthesized heroin, I'm sure this gives you a better picture of what you're dealing with.
I hope that this in depth guide helps you because I tweaked pretty hard on it. Funny thing is that I'm high off of Oxy's right now which is why I got the idea to snoop around a drug forum in the first place
