People addicted to contain usually feels dizzy and weak. They may also experience constipation, decreased urination, confusion, nausea and euphoria. Codeine also relieves pain. They also have low and week breathing and sexual drives and have cold and sweaty skin. They also itch a lot. Some cases of codeine addiction even leads to unconsciousness, comatose or even death.

I know this is somewhat an old post but in the event someone finds this, you or your family member probably wont die because of codeine. People are not looking for text book answers to questions like this! I have known people who make a whole bottle of codeine into a drink and they didn't DIE. Don't do it though. It sounds very uncomfortable and not to mention stupid.
But if you or they are taking it, every day for even a modest period, addiction has started. I am addicted to codeine. I would like to tell my story but it doesn't seem appropriate. To answer your question. If they are taking it, they are most likely addicted. They may not crave it or take it for a high but if they stop they might feel pretty bad for a while. Withdrawals can be mild or server depending on how much they take and if it's cold turkey. I take Tylenol ones and know many others that have. The withdrawal symptoms are all the same: This can be diarrhea, cramps.. BOTH. Chills and/or sweats, aches, headache/migraine, dizziness, emotional unbalance (panic, fears, feeling "off", an uncomfortable dream like "high". Hopelessness. Depression. Did I say panic?). Swift pangs of nausea. Sluggish. Loss of concentration. And whether you are coming off 2 every four hours for a month. Or 40 a day for 15 years, you are likely to feel most of those symptoms coming off of them to some extent. Especially headaches and bowel problems. |
