The Fly Agaric, or Amanita Muscaria is the red topped mushroom with the white splotches that you see in so many cartoons. It contains a mescalin derivative and in Russia they eat it after boiling it because the hallucinogen is in the skin and it's water soluble. It can give you a "trip" similar to but weaker than LSD.

My friends used to do all type of shrooms. They really liked it, but it wasnt for me. It is a different kind of high, and it can make you giddy and happy.

How do you tell what is a good mushroom and what is a bad mushroom?

Mushrooms are notoriously difficult to ID for a novice and even with a description and picture you can only be so sure. There are ways to be MORE sure, spore prints for example, but a much better option would be to befriend a mycologist. As for the main question. Fly Agraric are not the typical 'magic mushroom' and have to be prepared. In other words you can not eat them raw, they are poison if not preped. As for the effect, I didn't enjoy them very much at all, significantly different from psilocybin mushrooms. I wouldn't say it's much like LSD either. |
