| Quaaludes There was a time when Quaaludes or methaqualone was quite popular in the United States as a drug for insomnia, and as a sedative and muscle relaxant. The highly addictive properties of Quaaludes led to their withdrawal from the market and classification as a Schedule I controlled substance. |

Quaaludes became talk of the table last month after erstwhile Bay City Rollers front man, Les McKeown, admitted to having gay sex with his manager after taking the drug. McKeown said that he voluntarily took the drug, which is a sexual enhancer, but didn't plan on having sex with Paton, the band's manager. What exactly are quaaludes??? Do they make you so horny that you become indiscriminate?

Methaqualone, the generic name of Quaaludes, is a sedative. Its effects are similar to that of barbiturates and is a general depressant to the central nervous system. It was widely used in the 60s and the 70s for the treatment of insomnia, and a sedative or muscle relaxant.

I remember when I was in college, "luding" out was one of the most favorite pasttime of my roommate... she took it and then had orgies... but that was the 70s!

So they took it just to get sexually aroused???

not just for sexual arousal
Actually, these drugs reduced your heart rate, making you feel relaxed, euphoric and drowsy, which is why it was very effective as a sedative and as a cure for insomnia. A larger dose however can bring about depression, headache and sensitivity to light. |

Overdosing on the drug however can be fatal. You could suffer from convulsions, vomiting, and hypertonia... sometimes you become delirious. Death comes through cardiac or respiratory arrest. Either your heart or lung stops working!

for this drug is a sedative it will feel you relaxed and euphoric, then how will that coincide with this drug is a sexual enhancer? it is said to be a muscle relaxant. so maybe the drug is being used by them to get their prospect sedate and can do whatever bad intentions they are planning. what you think?

Quaaludes were withdrawn in the 80s here in the US. But that was after couples used to drug while making love due to the arousal and the feelings of euphoria.
