I don't think that it's possible to have no withdrawal whatsoever. But being in a center ensures that there is a professional looking after you when you do experience withdrawal symptoms.

Please, let us not advocate self medication. Do you know that self-medication is what makes some people addicted in the first place? Self medication is a very dangerous practice!

thank you for that. for a while there, i thought that it was only cold turkey and medications.

Still, if it helps you get over your addiction, then it's worth a try

No no... detox is a clinical process, it's not a therapy. After detox, that's when you start rehab or counseling. Where do you get your facts?

I think detox is great. I think you have to be ready for it. You just have to be patient and willing to commit yourself to quitting and healing. They have alot of good medications out there, so I have seen some people get through it without a problem. The therapy you get is amazing and can be very useful.

Hi Kelly:

thank you for that insight. I think that having commitment from the addict is a step to making it easier for everybody involved in the treatment.

yup it is. in drug detox, the residue of the chemicals you have been imbibing gets flushed out of your body.
